Abstract:
Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) sensor is a position sensor that is widely
used in the industrial field as a control system because it has a high level of accuracy, precision,
excitation and has a sensitivity value of 61.8 mV/mm. In this study the sensitivity value can be
increased by strengthening the output signal of the LVDT sensor. COMSOL Multiphysics software
is used to simulate LVDT sensors with cores using Iron, Supermendur and Vitrovac materials. Coils
also vary from 100, 1,000, and 10,000 coils. The simulation results showed variations in materials
with high permeability had larger magnetic fields, and the addition of the number of coils also
affected the magnetic field. The magnetic field relationship is directly proportional to the output
signal, so a large magnetic field can increase the sensitivity value.
