Abstract:
Bambusa is the fourth most common type of bamboo in Indonesia. It has been reported
that the number of types of bamboo in Indonesia was 161 types or around 11.5% of the total
types of bamboo in the world. Kampar Regency is part of Riau Province situated in the middle
of Sumatra Island. This region consist of bumpy areas, lowlands, highlands or hills, and
swamps, which makes Kampar Regency rich in biodiversity. This study was an explorative
descriptive research using data retrieval techniques by sampling natural and cultivated bamboo
populations following by describing morphological characters. Method of data collection in
this study involved exploration, field observation and documentation. Results of the research
in Kampar Regency obtained 5 types and 2 varieties (waminii and striata) namely B.
glaucophylla, B. multiplex, B. vulgaris, B. vulgaris var. striata, B. vulgaris var. wamini.
