Abstract:
Mangrove forest are coastal ecosystems that have both biotic and abiotic
functions. This study aimed to determine the composition andstructure of
mangrove plants in Apar Village, North Pariaman Sub-District, West Sumatera.
This study used the survey method and the data was collected directly from the
field and continued with data analysis. The results found 12 types of mangrove,
that were Achantus ilicifolius, Rhizopora apiculata, Rhizopora mucronata, Nypa
friticuns, Soneratia caseolaris, Dolicandrone spathacea, Hibiscus tiliaceus,
Ardisia speciosa, Pandanus adoratissim, Cerbera maghas, Calophyllum
inophyllum, and Barringtonia racemosa. The results of Value Index analysis, the
highest were seedling strata (Acanthus ilicifolius) in stasiun three, sapling strata
(Dolicandrone spathacea) in station two and station three, and tree strata (Nypa
friticuns) in station one. The diversity indeks (H') analysis was medium and low
on seedling, sapling and tree strata
