Celery (Apium graveolens L. Var. Sylvester) is an herb that has the potential
as an alternative traditional medicine for anti-hyperuricemia because it contains
flavonoids, 3-n butylphthalide, and vitamin C, which can inhibit the action of the
Xantin Oxidase enzyme that acts as catabolism of purines into uric acid. The aim
of this study was to test the celery extract at various doses to reduce uric acid
levels in male white rats. This study consisted of K- (aspirin 12.6 mg/kg BW), K
+ (normal feed), P (celery extract 100 mg/kg BW + aspirin 12.6 mg/ kg BW).
The results of the study concluded that celery extract affected uric acid levels. P
treatment with a dose of 100 mg/kg BW can reduce uric acid levels from 8.70 mg
/ dl to 4.53 mg/dl. |
