Abstract:
Portal Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KUKERTA) Riau University has problems in answering
students inquires, for example, it took times to reply student‟s email by the admin of the
system. Thus, it can be highlighted that portal Kukerta requires an improvement to
handle students‟ inquiries automatically. Chatbot, an application that provides automatic
answering questions, can be considered as a solution to this problem. This research aims
to develop Chatbot named Kukerti by using the Fuzzy String Matching method. The
method was used to search and to match messages (splitting in the form of words)
entered in the dictionary (Chatbot knowledge). This system was developed using
Python programming language, MySQL as database server, and UML as system design.
The result obtained from this study is that Kukerti chatbot which is expected to be
implemented into the portal Kukerta Universitas Riau.
