Abstract:
Mempening (L. bancanus) is a species of the family Fagaceae. It can be found on hillsides
and sandy mountains to clay, but can also be found in peat swamp forests. The purpose
of this study was to isolate and test the toxicity of secondary metabolites from the nhexane
fraction obtained from the leaves of the L. bancanus plant. Isolation was carried
out by maceration method for 72 hours. A pure was obtained from sub-fraction 5 of the
flash column chromatography. The purity of the compound was determined by TLC test
and melting point test. The melting point is obtained in the range of 178-179ᵒ C. The
compound was coded LB-H-06 and was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy. The
spectrum showed the presence of the OH group, C-H alkane, C=O, C=C, and C=O. A
toxicity test using BSLT techniques showed that the LB-H-06 compound was toxic with
a LC50 value of 9.34 ppm.
