Abstract:
The Ghimbo Potai Prohibition Forest is a tropical rain forest with very high
vegetation diversity and has economically valuable timber, one of which is
meranti (Shorea sp.). This causes a lot of exploitation of meranti so that the
existence of meranti in the forest decreases. The purpose of this study was to
identify characteristics of meranti habitat (Shorea sp.) in the Ghimbo Potai
Indigenous Larangan Forest. This research was conducted fromOctober 2019 to
April 2020. This study used a survey method by laying the plot based on
purposive sampling. Results of the study showed that meranti (Shorea sp.) grew in
a high flat area with a temperature of 31.73°C, a soil temperature of 26.42°C, an
air humidity of 61.03%, a soil moisture of 44%, a pH of 6.31 and light intensity
around 348.73Cd
