This research was conducted on April 2013. Sampel of sea water and sediment were taken fromPangke Bay waters Karimun Regency, Riau Archipelago. Analysis of heavy metal concentration was carried out in Marine Chemistry Laboratory Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau by using an Atomic Absortion Spectrophotometer Perkin Elmer 3110. The results showed that highest consentration of Pb and Zn insea water was found in around PT. Saipem Indonesia waters (0,0623 mg/L and 0,4937 mg/L) and concentration of Cu was highest in PT. Pacific Granita port (0,0390 mg/L). Whilst the highest concentration of Pb was found in around PT. Saipem Indonesia waters (8,6333µg/g), Cu in anthropogenic activities area (2,5766 µg/g) and Zn in PT. Pacific Granita port (8,8500 µg/g).The lowest concentration of Pb, Cu and Zn was found in station nearby mangrove area and far from industrial activities (0,0487, 0,0146 and 0,0397 mg/L for sea water and 3,3500, 0,6183 and 5,8000 μg/g for sediment) for Pb,Cu and Zn respectively. Concentrations of Pb, Cu and Zn in sediment of Pangke Bay were still lower than ERL and ERM values which can be concluded that Pangke Bay waters does not have negative impact to organisms living in the surrounding area.

Satria, Arif Teguh
This study was carried out in May 2012. It aimed to find out on the stage extent of suspended solid in the west coastal waters of Bengkalis, in Riau province. This study used survey method and van Dorn sampler to collect the water samples at 7 stations of the study area. The National Standard Method of Indonesia for suspended solid analysis was used to deal with the main goal of the study. The result showed that the average stage of suspended solid was different for all stations. The considerable one was found in the station 4 comparing to the other stations. It caused station 4 was located at the confluence of the tidal current patterns come from the Malacca Strait low tide that come with the current of the river around the west coastal water of Bengkalis.

This research was done in June 2012 in Kasiak Island in West Sumatra Province. The research is aimed to analize the association of Crown of Thorns Acanthaster planci with the coral Foliose growthand the distribution os Crown of Thorns Acanthaster planci in the area of the research. The methods used in this reasearch is the survey methods. Transect was placed parralel with the coastal lineand placed on the square plot of (5x5 m) with five square plot in each station. The reasearch found that there are association between the two species of Acanthaster planci with the coral with Foliose growth in each of the research station, therefore, H0 received on the significant level of 0,05 (5%) (x(hitung) < x(tabel)), with the distribution pattern Acanthaster planci showing in groups, where MI > 1. On the station I with the depth 6, there were no Acanthaster planci found and the coral Foliose growth. This is influenced by the organic faktor for it’s need for nutrient as well as the environmental factors which are stabil and good which really support its growth.

Suhana, Mario Putra
The research was conducted in May 2013 in the waters of Beralas Pasir Island,
Bintan Regency, Kepulauan Riau Province. The purpose of the research was to
understand the suitability of Beralas Pasir Island used for marine ecotourism for tourism
activities as of snorkeling and diving tours based on coral reef ecosystem potential. The
research method used was a survey method with purposive sampling technique
sampling, observation station consists of a 3 point station.
Based on observations, coral reef ecosystem on Beralas Pasir Island were in
category of moderate, with an average percentage coverage about 46,69% of coral
communities. In each station the dominance of reef types were Acropora Tabulate
(ACT) and Coral Foliose (CF). The analysis for suitability for eco-tourism of
snorkeling and diving showed that all stations were at moderate category (S2) in which
the highest percentage was seen in station I.
