Pratiwi, Eza Nia2012-11-062012-11-062012-11-05yenihttp://hdl.handle.net/123456789/368ABSTRACT Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a disturbance in vaginal ecosystem characterized by reduction of the normal vaginal Lactobacillus and overgrowth of other anaerobic bacteria, such as Mobiluncus, Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis and Mycoplasma hominis. It presents homogeneous, thin and smells fishy odor. Bacterial vaginosis causing gynecologic complications, such as cervicitis, salpingitis, endometritis, postoperative infections, pelvic inflammatory disease and urinary tract infection; and obstetric complications, such as premature rupture of the membranes, preterm deliveries, chorioamniotitis and postpartum endometritis. The study was conducted using cross sectional study and implemented in July 2012 at Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru. About 41 pregnant woman were enrolled by using Gram’s staining with Nugent criteria shows 17 suffer BV (41,5%). Characteristics of patients with BV were highest in the age group 20-34 (82,4%) with gestational age 28-40 weeks (64,7%). Most had a high education level (64,7%) and unemployed (70,6%).
