Jur. 2012This reseach aimed to investigate the effect is the best spacing on the growth and production of rice (Oryza sativa L.). This research was conducted in the fields of Parent Seed Horticulture at Jalan Kaharudin Nasution, Marpoyan Padang, Pekanbaru, held for 5 months, started in November 2011 until March 2012. The research was conducted using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment’s spacing (20 cm x 20 cm), B (20 cm x 25 cm), C (25 cm x 25 cm), D (25 cm x 30 cm) and E (30 cm x 30 cm). Then tested further by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. Parameters measured were Plant Height (cm), number of nymphs Total (stem), number Malai per clump (strands), Productive Tillers Percentage (%), Harvest (days), number of seeds per Malai (seed), 1000 seed weight (g) and Dry Milled Rice Production per m2 (g). From the result of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the use of spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm on a variety of stem Piaman with SRI methods can increase the number of panicles per hill, accelerate the harvest, as well as increase the production of milled rice per m2.
