Abstract:
PT. Panca Surya Garden is one of the oil palm plantations in Kampar District, Riau
Province which is area distribution area for fern species. The purpose of this study was
to compare the morphological characteristics of three species which belong to family of
Nephrolepidaceae collected from palm oil plantation PT. Panca Surya Garden. The
morphological characters were described from Nephrolepis biserrata, Nephrolepis
exaltata and Nephroplepis hirsutula. Each species was distinguished based on the
characteristics of sterile young fronds, leaf surface, leaf base, and the position of sorus.
N. biserrata has rough surface of the leaf, blunt leaf base, and spores arranged on the
underside of the leaf, N. exaltata surface hairy leaves, spores along the edges of thin
leaves, while N. hirsutula is found with a slippery leaf surface, rounded leaf base, and
spores along the edge of a thick leaf
