Abstract:
This study is about the synthesis and characterization of composite activated carbon and silver nanoparticle. Activated carbon has been modified by loading with silver nanoparticle to prepare a novel adsorbent. The quality of adsorbent was determined based on the Indonesia National Standard (SNI 06-3730-1995). The result of characterization with water content, ash content, iodine adsorption power, methylene blue adsorption power and surface area were 7,06%; 16,32% 202,02 mg/g; 24,18 mg/g and 89,74m2/g. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical reduction method with sodium citrate as reducing agent. the results of characterization composite of nanoparticles and activated carbon were 0,48%; 19,78%; 248,72 mg/g; 24,34 mg/g and 90,35 m2/g for water content, ash content, iodine adsorption power, methylene blue adsorption power and surface area, respectively
