Abstract:
Remote Indigenous Community empowerment in maintaining and preserving the environment is
one of the goals of development. The behavior of Remote Indigenous Communities who care about
the environment is an important aspect in maintaining and preserving the environment. Care for
the environment is not behavior regardless of the level of knowledge about various matters related
to the environment itself. A person's knowledge about something it will indirectly influence on
attitudes or the vagaries of the Act. However, there is still a Remote Indigenous Community who do
not know how to dispose of garbage and how to clean garden nicely and less concerned with the
environment. This research aims to analyze the environmental knowledge of remote Indigenous
Community tribe of Bonai Rokan Hulu. The approach used is carried out quantitative-qualitative,
descriptive, i.e. describing the level of knowledge of indigenous communities of the Remote
environment with the quantitative data are dinalisis by using the percentage then meant in
qualitative. Data collected in field by way of spreading the questioner, interview and observation of
remote Indigenous Communities towards Tribal Bonai. Remote Indigenous Komuniutas knowledge
vary widely viewed from gender, age, education level and job level. But in general the level of
knowledge of remote Indigenous Community categorized low.
