Abstract:
Curcumin analog (2E,5E)-2,5-bis(2,3-dimethoxybenzylidene)cyclopentanone (E3) has been synthesized by aldol condensation using base catayst (NaOH) under microwave irradiation. The purity of the compound has been tested by thin layer cromatography (TLC), melting point test and analytical High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The structure of the compound was characterized based on the interpretation of spectroscopic data included UV, IR, 1H-NMR and MS. The toxicity activity of curcumin was determined using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method againts larvae of Arthemia salina Leach. The rendement resulted from each of curcumin analog (E3) was 58,94 %. LC50 value for curcumin analog (E3) was 7.500.000.000 ppm.
