dc.description.abstract |
Supercapacitor electrodes from coconut shell carbon (CSC) have been fabricated by using the
addition of a surfactant variation Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) 1,5 M on the ball milling
process. A chemical activation was performed by activator KOH in mass ratio of carbon and
KOH is 1:4. Measurement of the physical properties of carbon powder is carried out by X-ray
Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-rays for the crystalline
properties, structure of the surface morphology, and the content of coconut shell carbon
electrode elements. XRD measurement showed that the amorphous peaks of carbon
electrodes at 2θ is 24,030 - 46,060 represented by the presence of carbon materials with their
crystal orientation is (002) and (100). SEM micrograph on magnification of 500 and 5000X
showed that the pore distribution of the carbon electrodes is dominant on the macropores and
the generated particle is within the range of 0,5-25 nm. Energy Dispersive X-rays analysis
showed the carbon content in the sample with the addition SDS is 94,56%. The results of the
physical properties showed that the addition of surfactant SDS could increase the quality of
coconut shell carbon. |
