Amaranthus spinosus L (Amaranthaceae) has long been used by Indonesian people and
neighboring countries as a traditional medicine. In this study, toxicity of the aereal part of
this plant has been conducted using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). The results of this
test showed that LC50 values of hexane and methanol extract were 1,59 and 69.98 μg/mL
respectively. Fraction of the hexane extract did not show any activities except fraction 2
with LC50 635,33 μg/mL.
