dc.description.abstract |
Snail shells (Pomacea canaliculata) are usually used only as craft material its
alternative utilization is used asan adsorbent. CaO is a chemical compound whose
structure is a hexagonal cube with an open frame on the cubic lattice where van der
Walls bonds can occur, so that shell ash can be used as an adsorbent. CaO which is obtained from the calcination is carried out at temperature of 800
oC for ±10 hours. The
ability of the adsorbent was tested against variation of copper in a solution with the
variation of copperion concentration, activator Na2CO3 and contact time. From the
research result of the ash of snail shell it was obtained that CaO content is 92,29%. The
optimal absorption was obtained at 20 hours of contact time and 10% Na2CO3
concentration at 50 ppm copper solution with the adsorption of 1,9997 mg/g and the
adsorption efficiency was 99,9876%. |
