PERGESERAN PERANAN MAMAK DI KENAGARIAN BATIPUH ATAS KECAMATAN BATIPUH ATAS KABUPATEN TANAH DATAR

Abstract

A shift in the role of Mamak that occurs in Kenagarian Batipuh Atas is a social phenomenon that occurs in the community. Mamak in view of Batipuh Atas community is a leader who is able to nurture and be a role model for the members and nephew. Mamak have a wide ranging role of economic, social, educational and disputes. But what is happening today, along with the times, the role of Mamak in Kenagarian Batipuh Atas is experiencing a shift that leads to the assumption that Mamak just as a symbol custom only, and no longer able to be a role model who nurture his people. To analyze the research data was conducted using qualitative and nonprobability sampling technique with purposive sampling. Sample consisted of Mamak and nephew. Collected and then presented descriptively that describe or tell a narrative description of the results of research with the logical. The research conducted in Kenagarian Batipuh Atas, Batipuh Sub-district, Tanah Datar district. The survey results revealed Mamak divided into three parts, namely Mamak Kaum, Mamak Kepala Waris, Mamak Tungganai. This study also reveals the role of normative and areas which are the responsibility of the third Mamak. But in reality in this time there has been a shift in the normative role of the third Mamak. This study also reveals the factors causing a shift in the role of Mamak in the community of Kenagarian Batipuh Atas. So that causing the weakening of the role of Mamak as a role models in the community, be it a Mamak Kaum, Mamak Kepala Waris, and also Mamak Tungganai.
