Abstract:
This research was conducted in Reproduction Pond of Faculty of Fishery and
Marine Science of University of Riau Pekanbaru, from December 2012 until
January 2013. This study was performed to know the effect of feeding fish by
diets containing vitamin C in form of ascorbic acid on growth and survival rate of
catfish (Ompok hypoptalmus). Method used in this research was experiment
method. Design used by in the form of Complete Random Device (CRD) with
five treatments and three replication. The treatment was addition of vitamin C in
fish food with 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg/kg fish food. The result show that
supplementation of vitamin C in fish food significantly effect P< 0,05 to daily
growth rate and survival rate, but not significantly effect P > 0,05 to efficiency
food. Addition of vitamin C 200 mg/kg fish food yield was the best individual
absolute weight growth 15,34 g, absolute lenght growth 7,13 cm daily growth rate
3,14%, survival rate 88,89% and efficiency food 62,9%.
