Abstract:
Urolithiatic is a kidney stone disorder caused by urine substance accumulation in a stone formation. This study aimed to screen 4 plant species (Hibiscus tilliacues Linn., Orthosiphon lamineus Benth., Persea americana Mill. and Tristaniopsis whiteana Griff.) that have antiurolithiatic potency by in vitro test and to select the best plant for antiurolithiatic. The study had been conducted from January to June 2013. The parameters of this study were the characteristic of solution extract, phytochemical test and the mean of calcium oxalate melting-time. The result of plant screening by in vitro test, showed that Tristaniopsis whiteana was the best plant for antiurolithiatic with the mean of 42 minutes and 12 seconds of calcium oxalate melting-time. Based on the extract solution, ethanolic solvent was the best solution extract than other solvents. Tristaniopsis whiteana extracted by ethanolic solvent with the mean of calsium oxalate melting-time (34 minutes and 40 seconds) will be used for further study in rats by in vivo test. The ethanolic extract of Tristaniopsis whiteana has brown light colour on solution extract and has phytochemical compounds such as flavonoid, tanin, alkaloid, fenol, steroid/terpenoid content.
