Abstract:
Tuberculosis (TB) is still being a main cause of death in the world, especially in
developing countries. Relapse case or recurrent is TB patients previously treated for
tuberculosis and declared cured or treatment completed. This study is a survey study
with descriptive qualitative approach to know analyze the occurrence of pulmonary
tuberculosis relapse in Puskesmas Sidomulyo Pekanbaru year 2011-2012 to 7 patients
of TB relapse. Data obtained through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to 7
respondents. In-depth interview conducted to Pulmonologist and TB Program Holder in
Puskesmas Sidomulyo Pekanbaru as triangulation. Based on the results of this study,
the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis relapse in Puskesmas Sidomulyo Pekanbaru
year 2011-2012 occured in age among 19-55 years, majority of the patients are male
and having low education. Most respondents work at informal sector and the
sosioeconomic level is low. Most respondents also have smoking habits, few
respondents have Diabetes Melitus (DM). Most respondents have no contact history
with other TB patients. The implementation of TB programs at Sidomulyo Community
Health Center has been going well, but the counseling and health education activities
should be implemented to increase people’s knowledge about TB.
