Abstract:
Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a bacteria that caused infection gonorrhea in which is one of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that occurred a big issue. Out of 50-80% of cases for infected women does not show symptoms (asymptomatic) so that complications can easily occurred. Problem of gonorrheal infection control is complicated by the occurrence of resistant strains. This research is aimed at identifying and antimicrobial susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae of vaginal swabs from female commercial sex workers (FCSWs) in Jondul area kel. Rejosari kec. Tenayan Raya Pekanbaru. The research was descriptive and already done on January 2013. Identification was conducted through culturing on Thayer Martin agar, gram staining and oxidation test. Antimicrobial susceptibility has been done through disc diffusion method. The result of this research showed that from 35 respondents, 17% was positively infected by Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The highest resistance level of Neisseria gonorrhoeae was observed for tetracycline (100%), followed by amoxicillin (83%), ceftriaxone (67%), ciprofloxacin (67%), kanamycin (67%), and ofloxacin (33%).
