Abstract

The background of this research looks of joy, interest, concern and involvement of lower preformance children low in reading. The purpose of this study was to determine the interest in reading in children. This research is descriptive quantitative approach. Collecting data using observation techniques. The number of samples in this study were 30 children consisting of 17 male children and 13 female children. Based on the results of data processing, obtained the average child's interest in reading, acquired 65% interest in reading children categorized enough. For each indicator, the indicator reading preferences obtained average 64%, 71% interest, interest of 65%, 60% involvement. It can be concluded that the least and the most prominent in the reading interest of children is an aspect of parental involvement in providing examples of reading to children as well as care and supervision of parents of children reading.
