Abstract:
Mathematics is one of the universal science’s underlying the development of modern technology, and was instrumental in a variety of disciplines. Based on Curriculum 2006, the standard measure of success is the achievement of Minimum Achievement Criteria. Based on criteria as mentioned, the fact of the percentage of the amount obtained by students is very low especially in the fourth grade students of SDN 011 Penarikan. Based on this situation, we conducted a research to improvement efforts through cooperative learning by applying the type of Think Pair Square. The subjects were fourth grade students of SDN 011 Penarikan Langgam Sub District, District of Pelalawan, in the even semester of the academic year 2011/2012, totaling 24 people consisting of 15 boys and 9 girls. This research was designed in two cycles, with each cycle having 3 meetings and 1 times the daily tests. The results of the first cycle found that the percentage of students who achieve mastery criterion minimum is 79% and cycle II was 87.5%, which increased the percentage of the previous steps is 33%. Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the application of Cooperative Learning Model Type Think Pair Square can improve student learnings outcomes math class IV, Langgam Sub District, District of Pelalawan, in the even semester of the academic year 2011/2012.
