dc.description.abstract |
The increasing energy demand of fuel oil (BBM) of the world have limited resources of raw materials such as fossil fuels diminishing returns. To meet the needs of the fuel necessary to develop non-fossil fuels. One type of biofuel (BBN) is bioethanol. The raw material potential of bioethanol one is sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench). Sorghum starch can be converted to glucose and then with the help of microorganisms converted into bioethanol. The method used in this research is the process of saccharification and fermentation carried out simultaneously (SSF) in 2000 BIOFLO Fermentor. Sampling was carried out during the process of hydrolysis and fermentation at specific time intervals to analyze the levels of blood sugar and ethanol. Reducing sugar test done by the method of Nelson-Somogy, alcohol concentration test using a alkoholmeter. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of enzyme concentration StargenTM 002 and fermentation time on ethanol production levels. Sorghum starch fermentation conditions with variation of the enzyme concentration StargenTM 002 (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 2.5%) at each sampling time (12; 24; 48; 72 and 96 hours). The process of anaerobic fermentation takes place in the operating conditions of pH (4.5) stirring speed of 200 rpm and at room temperature with 5000 ml of fermentation medium. The results are shown in the best fermentation conditions for the addition of 2.5% enzyme concentration, fermentation time 48 hours with concentrations of ethanol produced 9% (v / v). |
