Abstract:
Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) is a method used to strengthen the accuracy of an
experiment due to the influence of independent factors or control factors that are not limited by
covariates. In this study, data on the Gini ratio and the number of poor people on the island of
Sumatra in 2020 will be used to determine the relationship between the location of the area and
the Gini ratio which is influenced by the poor population as a covariate in each region on the
island of Sumatra. Based on the results of the analysis with a p-value of 0.001 it can be
concluded that the location of the area affects the average level of the income distribution. Still,
the poor do not affect the level of the income distribution.
