Abstract:
White jabon fruit (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.) with cellulose content can be used as
an adsorbent on its form as activated carbon for the adsorption of Hg2+. This research
aims to determined the effect of HCl concentration as desorption solution (0.5 M, 1 M,
1.5 M dan 2 M) on the desorption ability of Hg2+ ion on the regeneration of activated
carbon of white jabon fruit. The adsorption ability of carbon of white jabon fruit was
analyzed using the ICP-OES instrument. The result of the adsorption of activated
carbon from jabon fruit to mercury (II) ions showed that the adsorption capacity and the
adsorption efficiency were 0.9390 mg/g and 99.63%, respectively. In the regeneration
of activated carbon white jabon fruit, the optimum concentration of HCl desorption
solution at concentration 0.5 M with a regeneration percentage of 76.61 %. Based on the
results of this research, it can be concluded that the regeneration of white jabon fruit
activated carbon using HCl is still able to adsorption Hg2+ ions even though the
adsorption power is not as good as that of activated carbon. It proved that the number of
adsorption capacity which is not much different from the adsorption capacity before
regeneration.
