dc.description.abstract |
Methylene blue is an organic dye that is widely used in various industries such as
textiles, paints, plastics, paper and pharmaceuticals. Excessive use of methylene blue
and untreated methylene blue waste will cause negative impact for organism and the
environment. This study aim to determine the efficiency of methylene blue removal
using silver nanoparticle resulted using kepok banana midrib aqueous extract. The silver
nanoparticle synthesized was held by 11 mL of 1.5 mM silver nitrate, 7 mL kepok
banana midrib aqueous extract, pH 5 and 700 Watt of microwave power for 3 minutes.
In this research, the optimum dosage of silver nanoparticle in methylene blue removal
was studied. The results showed that the efficiency of silver nanoparticles in methylene
blue removal is 90.21% by 5.0 mg of silver nanoparticles. It can be concluded that the
silver nanoparticle synthesized using kepok banana midrib aqueous extract is potential
catalyst in methylene blue removal |
