Abstract:
The processing of raw material for cow skin crackers by home industry businesses is still very
traditional, namely using the heat of the sun so it has many weaknesses, namely depending on
weather conditions, inefficient and unhygienic. This study aims to design the drying technology of
the automation system and to analyze the rate of reduction in water content of the raw material for
the cow skin crackers. The parameters measured were moisture content and temperature in the
drying device. Sampling of raw material for cow skin crackers was carried out at Kubang Raya
Jalan Brotoseno, Widya Permana Lestari Housing. The results showed that the temperature
changes in the dryer tended to be constant, namely 55.76 C and the moisture content of 20%, while
in drying using the sun the temperature fluctuated with the weather and the moisture content was
relatively small at 22%. The efficiency (η) of drying using biomass for 120 minutes and solar
energy on sunny days for 300 minutes is 92.86%, while on cloudy days for 1680 minutes the
efficiency is 60%.
