Abstract:
Rupat Strait waters are prone to pollution due to the dense industrial activity. This study aimed to
determine the distribution pattern of the characteristics of Rupat Strait waters based on physicalchemical
properties. The characteristics of a water can be determined based on the physical and
chemical properties of its water mass such as temperature, pH, salinity and the dissolved heavy
metals it contains. The research was carried out in February 2020 by determining ten stations as
water sampling points. At each point the water sample is taken from the surface. The method used
in this research is grab sample and data collection is done in situ by direct observation in the field.
The data collected were location, temperature, pH, salinity, and the content of heavy metal lead
(Pb). The results of data measurement in the field have an average temperature value is (29.75 ±
0.127) ° C, the average pH value is (7.52 ± 0.042), the average salinity value is (30.3 ± 0.758) ‰,
the average Pb concentration is (0.20088 ± 0.049418) ppm.
