Arthropods are the largest group of animal that inhabit the soil taking about
65%. Therefore Arthropods paly an important role in the ecosystem. Spiders have huge
diversity because they show adaptability to their environment. The purpose of this study
was to determine the diversity of spiders in the residential area of Simpang Baru
Pekanbaru and around the Arboretum forest of the Universitas Riau campus. This study
identified the pattern of spiders’ preference over environmental factors in the two type
areas. The total number of species obtained in this study was 24 species and 139
individuals consisting of eight families. Diversity Index in campus forest and residential
areas ranged from 2.7 to 2.9 and 2.0 to 2.2 respectively. In addition, the Evenness Index
Value in residential part and campus forest was from 0.77 to 0.95 and from 0.97 to 1.0,
respectively.

IMPLEMENTASI NILAI KARAKTER RELIGIUS DI PANTI ASUHAN AS- SHOHWAH KECAMATAN TAMPAN KOTA PEKANBARU

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi fenomena edukasi kehidupan anak asuh yang berbeda di Panti Asuhan As-shohwah yakni, fakir, miskin, yatim, paitu, yatim piatu dan anak terlantar. Perlunya pengelolaan yang intensif dalam mendidik anak asuh, yaitu dengan mengimplementasikan nilai karakter religius yang bertujuan agar kelak anak tersebut mampu tumbuh, kembang dan mandiri di kemasyarakat. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah implementasi nilai karakter religius di Panti Asuhan As-shohwah Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah implementasi nilai karakter religius di Panti Asuhan As-shohwah Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pengasuh (ustadz/ ustadzah) dan anak asuh Panti Asuhan As-sohwah Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru yang berjumlah keseluruhan adalah 39 orang dan sampel berjumlah 38 orang. Instrumen pengumpulan data yaitu angket terdiri dari 29 pertanyaan/ pernyataan untuk pengasuh (ustadz / ustadzah) dan 29 pertanyaan/ pernyataan untuk anak asuh. Wawancara terdiri dari 17 pertanyaan. Data dianalisis dengan cara deskriptif-kualitatif melalui persentase. Berdasarkan perhitungan persentase jawaban responden secara keseluruhan diperoleh jawaban kurang baik sebanyak 49,63% yang terletak pada rank 40% - 55%. Hipotesis yang menyatakan implementasi nilai karakter religius yaitu terlaksana dengan baik di Panti Asuhan As-shohwah Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru adalah ’ditolak’. Berdasarkan Hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Implementasi nilai
karakter religius di Panti Asuhan As-shohwah Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru
yaitu kurang baik.

CLASSROOM AS A MEDIUM TO DEVELOP CHARACTER VALUES

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of teachers’ classroom instructional process in disseminating good values for students. The values were evaluated in the development of religious characters, nationalist characters, productive characters and
creative characters. The evaluation was done by observing visible changes of behaviours and how students have accepted the values. The survey method was used in this study to analyse the level of students’ acceptance towards the implementation of Nation Character Education in the classroom and teachers’ perspective on how students practise the nation character based on students’ behaviours. Simple random technique was used to determine the school samples from the whole population of 36 secondary schools in Pekanbaru, Riau Indonesia. All items to test the implementation of nation character in the classroom were at the modest/satisfactory and high level. The item which recorded the highest mean score
was students’ readiness to adhere rules whether in or outside the school. Findings showed that students are willing to work together as a team and teachers have successfully built students’ productive characters by promoting leadership skills, instructing skills and students have performed well by accomplishing the task given to them. Teachers have used various elements to develop character values among students, and the indication of
positive results was shown by students better behaviours. Teachers can play a positive role by stimulating students’ thinking especially by stimulating curiosity among them. Hence, inquiry technique was used by teachers to introduce religious, nationalist, productive and creative characters to their students.
