Abstract
Abstract: The entry of industry into areas that have not been touched by the
industry will change in every aspect of society. Industry will have an impact
in people’s live whether it is positive or negative impact. The establishment
of an industry is expected to improve the welfare of local communities that
exist arround the industry. The emergence of new industries in the region
will provide a major impact on employment and the economy. Another
consequence of the growth of the industry which is considered bad is
emergence of pollution that often cause variuos problems. Particularly the
development of oil palm plantations in Riau has braught economic impact
on the community. The community has its own point of view about
something new that is presents amongst the people. The way communities
respond to something new can vary, there are people who agreed to the
presence of palm oil factory and that do not agree. The goal of this study
was to determine how the public response to wards the operationalization
of the Kelurahan Balai Raja with PT.Mustika Agung Sawit Sejahtera.
Location in this study is in Kelurahan Balai Raja. Sampled in this study was
5% of 1,019 family with 51 respondents. Data were collected and and
analyzed in descriptive qualitative. Balai Raja community which responds
positively was 70,59%, and 29,41 % negative. Factor that cause a negative
response of operation is the odor generated from the production plant. It
can be concluded that the public responded well to be establishment of the
PT.Mustika Agung Sawit Sejahtera.
