Year 2012-2013. Thesis. Based on observations at TK FKIP UNRI, there were some
problems that faced by children in accounting number . The following problems
were: 1) there were some children who couldn’t count the number 2) there were
some children who had not been able to add to the finger, 3) there were some children
couldn’t account the images, 4) there were some children who had not been able to
recognize numbers. The aim of this study was to know children’s skills in numeracy
before using Jarimatika techniques and after using this Jarimatika techniques, and
also to know the effect of the numeracy skills of children aged 5-6 years at TK FKIP
UNRI. The numbers of samples in this study were 25 children in class B1. This study
was an experimental research using one-group design with pretest and posttest using
observation sheet. The results and discussions of this research, it concluded that
numeracy skills of children aged 5-6 years at TK FKIP UNRI before treatment was
given, numeracy skills of children are in the low category, after using the Jarimatika
technique, numeracy skills of children are in the good category. This shown from the
results of the t test higher than the result of whereas 24.2, the
result of was 1.671. So, Jarimatika technique was very effective technique
used to improve the numeracy skills of children aged 5-6 years at TK FKIP UNRI
Pekanbaru.
