dc.description.abstract One of the ways that can be used by the teacher to increase students' motivation in learning is by icebreaker. Icebreaker is breaking the rigidity of insight or physical of the students so that the learning process will be more effective. The purpose of this research is to know the differences of the students' motivation in learning Physics especially about temperature and the heat by icebreaker or conventional one in the X grade students in Babussalam Senior High Scholl Pekanbaru. The research is quasi experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The instrument in this research is questionnair of motivation ARCS that consist of Attention, Relevance, Confidance and Satisfaction. The descriptive analysis result of the students' motivation in experiment class by applying icebreaker is higher than control design class with conventional way. The inferential analysis result through tcount -2.150 and ttable -1.994. Because the value of -tcount < -ttable (-2.150 < -1.994), the conclusion, it's found that there are significant differences about students' motivation in learning Physics in Babussalamm Senior High School Pekanbaru that applying icebreaker and class with conventional mehod in 95% level of belief. en_US
