Abstract

Metal pollution of lead (Pb) waters in causes a huge negative impact to human life. One effort to eliminate and minimize the metal content of lead is by the process of adsorption. The objective in the work to study the effect of adsorbate concentration and temperature as well as equilibrium models in the Pb2+ ion adsorption using tricalcium phosphate (TCP) as the adsorbent. Pb2+ solution (3 mg/L, 9 mg/L and 15 mg/L) of 500 mL was added as much as 1 g of TCP into a glass beaker with a stirring speed of 300 rpm at temperature of 30oC, 40oC, 50oC and 60oC. Pb2+ concentration in the liquid metal was analyzed using AAS. The adsorption capacity of Pb2+ (Qe) increases with an increasing at initial concentration Pb2+ (Co). At Co 14,932 mg/L have Qe value of 6.7880 mg/g, then at Co 8.986 mg/L and 2.958 mg/L have Qe value of 4.1435 mg/g and 1.4470 mg/g. And an increase in temperature which causes a decrease in the adsorption capacity (Qe). At temperature of 60°C has a value of Qe 6.2585 mg/g, then at temperature of 30°C has a value of Qe 6.7880 mg/g. The mechanism of Pb2+ ion adsorption on tricalcium phosphate followed Freundlich isotherm model can conclude that a physical adsorption in the values of ΔH is - 8.7706 kcal/mol.K.
