Abstract
This study aims to determine the abundance of zooplankton which in Bangka Sea Waters. This study is part of a collaboration of the Directorate General of Higher Education (DITJEN DIKTI) of the Ministry of National Education and the Directorate of Institutional Research Center for Oceanography Indonesian Institute of Sciences
(P2O-LIPI). Sampling for this study was conducted during the Sailing Nationality for
Young Scientists Program (PKIM) Batch II 2010 on boat RV. Baruna Jaya VIII on 22th
September - 4 October 2010. Sampling for zooplankton was conducted on 20 stations
which were divided into 3 locations: south, east and north. Zooplankton sampling
method performed by the method of vertical using Plankton nets (Norpac). The amount
of zooplankton which were found in Bangka Sea Waters is 4052 individuals. This
consist of 6 phyla (Annelida, Arthropoda, Coelenterata, Chaetognatha, Echinodermata
and Mollusca), these 6 phyla contain classes of zooplankton which consisting of
Polychaeta, Crustacea, Scypozoa, Sagittoidea, Ophiuroidea, and Gastropoda. The most dominant class zooplankton in Bangka Sea Waters is crustaceans at 86,13 %.
Abundance mean of zooplankton in Bangka Sea Waters ranges between 8,583-24,662
ind/m3.
