Abstract
The background of this research is the performance issue kindergarten teacher in the
district Tampan as a teacher rarely plan learning activities, the teacher who likes to
come late, the teacher who rarely commsunicates with his friend and also a teacher
who could not manage a classroom atmosphere while teaching. Therefore this study
was undertaken. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of
principals regarding kindergarten teacher performance in Tampan District in
Pekanbaru. Surveys were administered to 44 school principals from each of the
kindergarten located in the Tampan District. In collecting the data, researchers used
questionnaires to determine the perceptions of principals regarding teacher
performance. Analysis using a percentage scale test and perform descriptive data
using SPSS 16. Based on the research that has been done shows that the performance
of teachers by principals perceptions of the cognitive component seen in the category
quite well with the percentage of 46,43%, while the views of the principal
components of affective perception in the category quite well with the percentage of
49,91 %, and the views of the action components perceptions also principals in the
category quite well with the percentage of 49,71%. But the quality of the performance
must be improved to match the expectations of school principals and can improve the
quality of a school
