Abstract

The problem in the research was the low achievement of students in studying IPA in IVB class of Elementary School 161 Pekanbaru, with an average score was 69,34 in daily tests. Learning outcomes of students as low as stiil below the standards set by the school KKM was 75. The low yield due to student learning used by teacher quite right and was not in accordance with the characteristics of learning IPA; they are the real experience and discovery. Based on the problems it was necessary to fint the solution that was solving by applying Problem Based Learning model. The study aims to improve student learning outcomes of IPA in IVB class of Elementary School 161 Pekanbaru. The research in the form of class research. The subjects were IVB garders totaling 38 students, which consisted of 16 male students and 22 female students. The results showed that by applying the Problem Based Learning model could improve science learning outcomes of students, on the basis of the average score of the students was 69,34 increase at UH I to 75,37, an increase from previous test scores by 8,69%. UH II on the average value of student learning outcomes to be 80,21, an increase from UH I to UH II by 6,42%. UH on the average value of student learning outcomes was 89,05, an increase from UH II to UH III by 11,02%. Results of analysis in the average activity of teachers in the first cycle was 88,75% and increase in the second cycle to 94,17%, an increase from the previous teacher activity by a margin of 5,42%. In the third cycle, the activity of teachers was 97,5%, an increase from the second cycle to third cycle by a margin of 3,33%. Results of analysis in the average activities students in the first cycle was 72,92% and increased in the second cycle was 87,72%, an increase from previous student activity by a margin of 14,80%. In the third cycle student activity was 93,75%, an increase from the second cycle to third cycle by a margin of 6,03%. Meaning the application of Problem Based Learning Model could improve students learning outcomes of IPA in IVB class of Elementary School 161 Pekanbaru
