Abstract:
Mathematics is one of the basic science that today's evolving with the progress of science and technology. In the curriculum (2006), students' mathematics learning outcomes measured by indicators of achievement of Minimum Achievement Criteria established by the school. Based on facts, many students in the Class IV SDN 003 Sotol, Sub District of Langgam, Pelalawan District, in the even semester of the academic year 2011/2012 who do not reach the criteria. For these problems required a learning process improvements. Improvement efforts by implementing cooperative learning model type Think Pair Square. This research was conducted for the fourth grade students of SDN 003 Sotol which began on 21 May to 6 June 2012 with the number of students is 20 people. The research was designed in two cycles, each cycle consists of 3 sessions and 1 time daily tests. The data collected from this research were obtained from observations and written tests on students. Analysis of the data used is descriptive statistical analysis that describes the activities of teacher and students, analysis of learning outcomes and succesful measurements. The results of the first cycle found that the percentage of students who achieve mastery Minimum criteria (≥ 65) was 60% and the second cycle was 90%, which increased the percentage of the previous measures only 45%. The conclusion of this study indicate that cooperative learning model of Think Pair Squre type can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.
