Abstract:
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways associated with
hyperresponsiveness that leads to recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness,
chest tightness and coughing. Spirometry is an examination that should be done in
the diagnosis and evaluation of asthma patients. In most of asthma cases, the
result of spirometry test shows an obstructive type of interrupted ventilation. This
descriptive research aimed to identify result of spirometry test in asthma patient
at Pulmonologic Outpatient Clinic RSUD Arifin Achmad in December 2012
period. The subjects are asthma patients at Pulmonologic Outpatient Clinic RSUD
Arifin Achmad in December 2012 periode. About 42 were participated, only 31
patients met the inclusion criteria. The result showed that asthma patient at
Pulmonologic Outpatient Clinic RSUD Arifin Achmad in December 2012 period
more in women (64,5%) were between 19-79 years of age, more work as
housewife (41,9%), more in classified as mild asthma (38,7%), more heavily level
of asthma control were controlled (67,7%), more in obesity (61,3%). 38,7% of
the patient were classified normal spirometry test, 29% were restrictive and
16,1% were classified obstructive and 16,1% were combination type of
interrupted ventilation.
