PERAN UN WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME (WFP) DALAM PENANGANAN MASALAH SILENT HUNGER (KRISIS PANGAN DAN KELAPARAN ) DI NIGER TAHUN 2004-200

Abstract

Abstract The food crisis and hunger that happen in Niger is caused by Niger’s tropical geographical condition where if the dry season comes will cause dry land, more over the food crisis is caused by economy crisis in Africa, the government doesn’t care in solving this problem, and low human resources of Niger can’t use the ability to manage the land. The Niger’s growth is hindrance by instability of politic and drought disaster which destroyed food production. Therefore, the agricultural production decreases drasticly so that it causes the society can’t fill daily food need. Niger needs relief both from government of other countries and from international organization inn solving “silent hunger”. United Nation overcomes the problem in Niger through International Organization that handles the food security problem is World Food Programme. This organization has fungtion not only over coming food security problem but also reconstruction and rehabilitation. By handling the case of silent hunger in Niger World Food Programme proclaims four programmes are emergency operations, protracted relief and rehabilitation operations, country programme and development activities, and special operations.
