Abstract:
The study is titled "The Effect of Group Counseling Toward student anxiety in
the face of nationwide class XII exams SMA N 5 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2012/2013.
The purpose of this study is: 1) To find a picture of student anxiety prior to the
implementation of group counseling. 2) To reveal the anxiety of students after the
implementation of group counseling. 3) To determine differences in anxiety after the
students prior to the implementation of group counseling. 4) To determine how much
influence the group counseling to students' anxiety. The variables of this study consisted
of a single variable with two variants: 1) anxiety group counseling students before. 2)
student anxiety after counseling group. Hypothesis: There are significant differences
before the given after group counseling services to decrease student anxiety. This study
is a population of students who have high levels of anxiety that are in the high category.
Method of sampling using the technique of "random sampling" which is taking a sample
of the population was randomly without regard to strata that exist within the population.
The method used was a quasi experiment One Groub: groub one pre-test and post-test
design. To determine each student's level of anxiety using a questionnaire. Data analysis
was performed using statistical techniques to distinguish anxiety and the percentage of
students prior to the use of group counseling conducted after the test "t". Of test
calculations "t" obtained t is greater than t table (17.62> 2.042) at 5% error level. Thus
H0 is rejected and Ha accepted, which means there is a difference before the counseling
groups conducted after the students' anxiety. Then from the calculation of the product
moment correlation coefficient r = 0.77 ie determinant r2 = 0.59. Thus it can be seen,
the influence of group counseling services to students is by 77% and stood at a strong
relationship category. Based on the results of research conducted, it can be concluded
after the conducted group counseling, reduced student anxiety.
