Abstract
The aging process most will be experienced by the elderly. The various problems can
arise due to the aging process. Tresna Werdha Sabai Nan Aluih Si Cincin social home
is one of the integrated service units in Pariaman, West Sumatera which functions to
rehabilitation and care for the elderly have important roles to solve their problems. To
improve the quality of life of the elderly, this PSTW must pay attention to the physical
environment around it such as the layout of the building, facilities, and infrastructure.
Likewise with the social environment which includes social activities such as
recitation, sports, skills, recreation, and entertainment. The purpose of this study was
to describe the physical and social environment in PSTW Sabai Nan Aluih Si Cincin,
Pariaman, West Sumatera in supporting the quality of life of the elderly. This was a
descriptive qualitative study on the physical and social environment in this PSTW.
The subjects of this study were selected by a purposive sampling method with certain
criteria and taken randomly. The data collection methods used were interviews and
observation. The results showed that the physical and environment of the elderly has
been fulfilled with the support of existing infrastructure, and the social environment
has been well scheduled. It can be concluded that the physical and social
environment is crucial in improving the quality of life of the elderly.
