Abstract

One influencing factor to learning outcomes was learning method which consists in curriculum. Assessment of learning outcomes can be seen from the student’s knowledge and skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference between knowledge and clinical skills of students with a Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and conventional curriculum. Design of this study was analytic with retrospective studies. Data are taken from summary evaluation of medical student’s value at Obstetrics & Gynecology Depatrment, Medical Faculty of Riau University period 2011-2012. Samples were the entire population who have met the criteria. Obtained 88 students consisting of 39 CBC’s students and 49 conventional’s students. Mean value for conventional’s students knowledge was 69.7 and CBC’s students was 68.4. Mean value for conventional’s students skills was 71.1 and CBC’s students was 71.3. Significant scores both of group for mean of knowledge and skills value was p> 0.05. There was not significant different from mean of knowledge and skills value between the CBC’s student and the conventional’s student.
