Abstract

Undiagnosed Diabetes Mellitus (UDDM) is defined as having higher level of plasma glucose concentration than normal found in screening, without any clinical symptoms. Patients with UDDM do not know that they have diabetes, so they are unaware of medication of the disease. One of important risk factor for diabetes mellitus is obesity. Obese individuals can develop resistance to celluler action of insulin. The purpose of this research was to know the the proportion of obesity in people with undiagnosed diabetes mellitus in Puskesmas Sidomulyo Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru community. A descriptive cross sectional study was done, involving 120 respondences. From those with capillary bloog glucose > 100 mg %, were measured for their body mass index. The results showed 37,14 % of UDDM detected, were obese, with 31,43 % female, 22,86 % > 45 years old, 22,86 % graduated from senior high school.
