Abstract

ABSTRACT Hepatitis B is an infectious disease of the liver caused by a virus and the serious impact can lead into chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma. This disease can be transmitted through medical procedures performed by health care workers, including the clerkship student. This study aimed to collect data about the description of immunity status againts Hepatitis B in the clerkship students of Medical Faculty Riau University. About 80 clerkship students in November 2011 period were participated chosen by simple random sampling method. Immunity status were analyzed from the results of HBsAg, anti-HBs titer, anti-HBc and vaccination status. Results of the examination did not reveal any positive HBsAg (0 %), positive anti-HBs on protective level was found in 29 students (36.2 %), positive anti-HBc from students who had anti-HBs positive were found in 6 students (20.69 %). Students who had been vaccinated and not vaccinated were 39 student (48.7%) and 41 student (51.3%) respectively.
