Abstract
Becoming old naturally is phase in the life that has to be passed trough. The advanced age is the age where the decline of biology and psychology physic happens. In this time, the advanced age should enjoy the old age, but in the fact, many old ages still survive to earn livelihood in almost road directions.
This research was done in Political district Simpang Baru, Subdistrict of Tampan Pekanbaru City. The goal of this research is to know, the factor which influences advanced age, also the advantage and disadvantage of working advanced age and how family perception about working advanced age. This research was done by using qualitative method, from result of deep interview and observation. There were also research subjects of 8 advanced age people who work in informal sector.
The conclusion of the majority working advanced age motivation is for filling family economy. Most of working advanced age relies on power and service. The job like becoming cleaning service, trader and special expertise becomes the selected works for advanced age. The work ethic is visible on spirit of advanced age to work in the middle of power limitedness as if it doesn’t become a hindrance which is able to reduce working spirit. The wish of children and family is the advanced age stops working because it is pushed by affection. What the children perceive is different with what the working advanced age feels, beside the economy factor for the advanced age that works is having status, being confident, self-esteem, and inner satisfaction. Therefore, giving freedom for the advanced age to work is wise choice by paying attention.
