Abstract:
This research try to explain the pattern of Indonesia’s foreign policy under Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono Presidency. SBY try to reconstruct the Indonesian foreign policy to sets
out connectivity principal to international relations. This research used a theory by William
D. Coplin, this theory tells that foreign policy of a nation influenced by four factors:
international context, decision maker behavior, economic condition and millitary domestic,
and national political system. In the international context, a changed of international system
power happened, and it direct to multipoarism and rise of global economic crisis. In domestic
context, there are requirement to gain the economic growth and projecting the values of
indonesia democratic to the world. With this theory, the foreign policy of SBY pass by
engagment all of big country in strategic and comprehensive partnership, it used ASEAN as
cornerstone of Indonesia foreign policy, used G-20 as a tool to settle global financial crisis,
and used Bali Democracy Forum as a tool to promote democratic values in the world.
